History with a dice roll, 1965 edition

It has been a while, but I thought I'd step up to the plate again and share something from my 1965 replay which asks the question, "Did Willie Mays ever hit for the cycle?" The answer to that question is no, but in S-O-M the answer will always be "Yes!" 4/27/65, Shea Stadium, NY. 1st inning, Mays singles. 3rd inning, Mays triples, drives in run, scores run. 5th inning, Mays walks, scores. 7th inning, Mays doubles, drives in 2 runs, scores 3rd run of the game. Then in the 8th... Home Run. 4th RBI, 4th run scored. Cycle completed. It would've been the first cycle since the Giants moved from New York, as Don Mueller had the last cycle in 1954 and was a month before Carl Yastrzemski cycled in a Red Sox game. The fact that Mays never hit for the cycle is quite incredible given his other career milestones. But with a roll of the dice, history can be made. Say Hey!

4/7/73: Mitterwald, Tolan lead RBI parade

Vin Scully: "Farmer John is a big fan of Easter, having the kids around for the egg hunt and to pet the rabbits. If you haven't ordered your Easter ham yet, make it a Farmer John ham and have it stand out as the star of your Easter show. Farmer John's hams, the Easternmost in quality and the Westernmost in flavor."    MIN 6, OAK 5: George Mitterwald, 2 three-run homers, 6 RBI.
