"NBC presents Major League Baseball. Today, it's the San Francisco Giants versus the Milwaukee Braves from County Stadium in Milwaukee. Hello everybody, this is Lindsey Nelson along with Joe Garagiola, all set to bring to bring you this National League matchup between the Giants and the Braves. The Giants won last night's meeting by a score of 2-0(based on my 1961 replay) and will send Juan Marichal to the mound, where he'll be opposed by fellow righthander Lew Burdette."

The Giants took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 2nd on a leadoff single by Orlando Cepeda. Cepeda then stole 2nd and took 3rd on a throwing error. Ed Bailey drove in Cepeda with a sac fly to right. Onward to the home half of the 2nd:

Nelson: "Here's Henry Aaron leading off the bottom of the 2nd, Giants lead it 1-0. Marichal fires, here's the pitch to Aaron, it is hit deep to right field, Cepeda looks up, that ball is out of here for a home run!" Marichal threw Aaron a curve and Aaron destroyed it up in the right field bleachers, we are tied at 1. Garagiola: There are swings and then there's Henry Aaron doing what he does best, taking a curve from Marichal and hitting it with relative ease. One of the finest swings in baseball. (Mel Roach then flied to right) One out, here's Joe Adcock, the longtime first sacker here in Milwaukee. Marichal gets the sign from Bailey, here's the pitch, Adcock swings, it's a base hit to center, Adcock aboard with 1 out. (DeMerit then fouled to catcher) 2 outs, here's the catcher Charley Lau. Adcock even at the bag with McCovey, here's the pitch to Lau, he swings, there's a drive to center field, it's off the wall. Adcock will stop at 3rd, Lau pulls into 2nd with a double. Runners at 2nd and 3rd, 1 out, the batter is Lew Burdette. Marichal gets the sign, the pitch to Burdette is lined to right field for a base hit. Adcock scores, they're gonna send Lau home from 2nd, the throw from Cepeda is not in time, a 2-run single by Lew Burdette and the Braves go on top 3-1! You used to run like that from 2nd eh, Joe? Only to the buffet line, Lindsey."

Marichal would retire McMillan on a force to 2nd. It would be the last pitch Marichal would throw, as leading off the 3rd, he pulled his right wrist popping up to 2nd. Jim Duffalo would take over in the 3rd. CONTINUED ON SIDE B.
