DET 8-8-2 CWS 5-9-1 Charlie Maxwell's 3-run pinch-hit homer in the 8th gave the Tigers their 4th win in a row, while the Pale Hose despite 2 home runs from Al Smith dropped their 4th in a row. Jake Wood and Bill Bruton slugged solo homers for the unbeaten Tigers.

CLE 12-14-2 WSH 8-14-3 Jimmy Piersall was a homer short of the cycle, while Woodie Held and Bubba Phillips slugged their first homers of the season as the Indians cracked the win column for the first time this season. Willie Tasby homered for Washington.

MIN 10-11-0 BAL 2-7-1 Jack Kralick went the distance, while Jim Lemon cracked an 0-12 season-opening slump with a pair of singles, including a 2-run single in the 3rd. Oriole pitchers had all sorts of trouble finding the strike zone, walking 12 Twin batters, including Harmon Killebrew an astonishing 5 times in 6 plate appearances. It was the Birds' 1st loss in 4 games.

KCA 5-11-0 NYY 0-6-1 RHP Ken Johnson held the Yanks to 6 hits and contributed a 2-run single as the Athletics cracked the win column for the first time. Norm Siebern homered for the A's. 

BOS 12-16-0 LAA 2-4-0 Tom Brewer and Dave Hillman combined for a 4-hitter, while Jackie Jensen socked 2 home runs, driving in 4 runs as the Sox overwhelmed the Angels. Vic Wertz had a 3-run homer and singled in 2 more.
