NL 4/20/67: "24"

Giants in a "Walk"

Jack Hiatt walked with the bases loaded off St. Lou's Steve Carlton to force home the winning run in the bottom of the 9th in a 6-5 thriller at Candlestick Park on Thursday afternoon. The game was a see-saw affair up until the very end when with 2 outs and Ron Willis pitching, Willie McCovey singled, Willie Mays reached on an error by 3b Phil Gagliano, then Jim Ray Hart grounded an infield single to Gagliano to load the bases, setting up PH Hiatt's walk off of the left-handed Carlton, which scored McCovey with the winning run.
